On 4 June 2026, the CEU Democracy Institute hosted the panel The New Politics of Information in the Trump Era: Perspectives from the United States and Europe, co-sponsored by the SPINE project (ELTE Centre for Social Sciences).
The panel brought together Annelise Russell (University of Kentucky), Sean Theriault (University of Texas at Austin) and Alexander Bor (CEU Democracy Institute) to compare how the United States and Europe are confronting a transformed media and information landscape — from algorithmic agenda-setting and the platformization of political news to partisan polarization and the psychology of online hostility. The discussion turned to what these shifts mean for media governance, electoral competition, and the resilience of democratic publics. Miklós Sebők moderated.
The event was held on Thursday, 4 June 2026, 14:00–15:30 at Nádor utca 15, Room 104, Budapest. Full details are on the CEU event page.
