Miklós Sebők joined Partizán's live programme on the results of the 2026 US midterm elections, speaking from New York State. Partizán is an independent Hungarian political YouTube channel. The programme, in Hungarian, was broadcast on 4 November 2026 on its foreign-affairs show Szignál under the title "Totális vereséget szenvedtek Trumpék" [Trump's camp suffered a total defeat].
Sebők said the most striking feature of the result was not the number of seats that changed hands but where Democrats won, including Kansas and South Carolina, which pointed to a realignment of voter coalitions. He attributed the outcome to a second Trump presidency that had not delivered on its economic promises and had started a war with Iran, and to Republican errors in campaign strategy and candidate selection.
Referring to his work on the policy agenda in seven Senate races, he described a cost-of-living election. The issue took a different form from state to state, from heating oil prices in Maine and diesel prices in Kansas to data centres in Ohio. Asked about artificial intelligence as a campaign issue, he pointed to fears about jobs and to the effect of new data centres on electricity costs and the grid. He also discussed the economic situation of Latino communities in the Rio Grande Valley, and young voters who had moved towards Trump in the last presidential election and, he said, had now stayed home or returned to the Democrats over housing costs and entry-level job prospects.
The full programme, which runs for about two hours and twenty minutes, is available on YouTube. Sebők's segment starts at 39:02.
